I can't be on-the-go, productive, like I used to because I got sick. Should I push myself or calm down more?!

Question: I can't be on-the-go, productive, like I used to because I got sick. Should I push myself or calm down more.?
I used to work 6-7 days a week sometimes, go to college, do everything at once, hit the gym, mult-task, I was like a super-bionic man, and I don't even know how I did it all. I'm sure it's all the coffee I consumed.

In short, at 26 now, I've gotten sick really bad a few times, developed asthma problems, anxiety/panic problems, ,and ended up burning out, and had to give up my pace of life.

Whenever I try to pick up the same pace nowadays....I simply CAN'T do it physically. My body won't let me and my mind gives up too.

Should I keep pushing myself or try to go back to where i once was, or will I eventually be able to....

or is this a sign that it's over and I should just calm down and get used to a less demanding pace.?Health Question & Answer

First, see your doctor, to be sure you are or can get as healthy as possible. Second, take each step slowly and don't try doing more than one small thing extra every week ... but keep that small thing the next week when you add one. Of course you should ask your doctor ... and if you need it, ask him for a referral to a psychologist or psychiatrist for your panic/anxiety problems, since those can and do affect what you are 'able' to do and how fast you do it, and getting help there may help you 'return to normal' (or to a more normal normal, since your old lifestyle was not normal and you need to find a 'good pace' for the rest of your life. I think that you should work on getting your body in an optimal nutritional state first. asthma can be treated with medications, therapy for your anxiety, work on the underlying causes of your problem. just pushing your body does not seem to be working according to you. maybe you will have to go back to square 1 and start all over again. Calm downHealth Question & Answer

for me I love living that lifestyle. It makes you more happy to be productive. Start by just walking for exercise- that should build your stamina. b4 you know it you'll be enjoying life again. remember, it's not that you can;t handle it-- it's just that you made some bad choices before that you weren't comfortable with, which is why you got sick. listen to your body- but don't let yourself be lazy either.Health Question & Answer

If you keep pushing yourself beyond what your body wants to let you do, you can exhaust yourself and potentially get yourself sicker and/or slow down your recovery.

Give it some time, try not to let it get to you. When you feel *good*, then try to push it a little bit. If you find you can, then give it a while and increase it a little bit more.

It's probably gonna take more time than you expect, and you just can't expect to go from here to superman in one big leap.Health Question & Answer
