Question: Is ammonia harmful to your skin.? .?
Many people tell me that it's supposed to help relieve the itch on mosquito bites.
But then again, others tell me that it IS harmful.
I have a pen with liquid called AFTER BITE, & it contains a little ammonia. But I wonder if putting full strength ammonia on the mosquito bites would damage my skin.Health Question & Answer

Full strength ammonia would be very irritant to your skin and could cause inflammation or ulcers.
Mosquito bites are slightly acidic - dilute ammonia is slightly alkaline so the two neutralise each other. If you use strong alkali on your skin it would do the same as strong acid .... not nice !!Health Question & Answer
