Question: Which is better Ice or Heat.?
yesterday i had a softball tournament and i played for games in a row each lasting 2 hours. i pulled almost EVERY muscle in my body including my thumbs. but i play softball alot and im used to the slight pain of a little pulled muscle...but i pulled a muscle in my lower leftside of my back. it hurts so bad to get up, walk, move. i think i might even of strained it because it hurts mad bad. so should i ice it.? or put a heating pad on it.? whats best

Since its been over 6 hours use heat, no matter what people tell you.
Sitting in ice might numb you to make you feel better but doesn't do anything if you wait to long, once you wait to long(6 hours) use heat.Health Question & Answer

most of the time for strains or for pulling something heat is the best.
Ice is more for swelling and such.
Heat relaxes the muscles and helps them stretch more.
a helpful hint: instead of stretching before game, do warm-ups.
muscles work like Tupperware. if you put it in the freezer its hard to stretch...but if you put it in the microwave that heats it to help stretch it. (think muscles in this case)Health Question & Answer

I recommend you use ICE. My boss is a chiropractor and he always says ICE, it helps with the inflamation and swelling. Health Question & Answer
