Go for a looooooooong run or bike ride don't come home until your exhausted. Lets see...also any sort of music or sound you personally find soothing. Play with the lighting in your room make it as dark as you can by putting blankets over your window if you like it dark. If you want a bit of light maybe put a sock over a lamp or something like that. Lavender incense helps and so does lavender tea and putting some lavender under your pillow. Maybe try different sleeping pills or prescription ones if you aren't already taking some. Maybe fall asleep watching boring TV or a boring movie. Try getting a heating blanket if you are cold or put on a damp shirt if you are hot. also body pillows or a new bed might make you more comfortable. You could try sleeping with something from when you were young a favorite blanket or stuffed animal. If nothing works try making a point to take a nap during the day, and read up on power napping. Thats all I can think of. Health Question & Answer

I had a similar problem as this. I thought I wasn't sleeping well due to pain because of a recent injury, but the doc diagnosed me as having mild depression. (due to the injury) He put me on a small dose of Zoloft and gave me a prescription of Ambien CR for a few weeks to help me get in the pattern of sleeping regularly.
It might be something work checking into, sometimes we can be depressed or agitated and not really realize it!
GOOD LUCK!!Health Question & Answer

Try this relaxation technique , its a 30 min guided relaxation , hypnosis technique. Link to the mp3 below. BAsically, in order to fall asleep your whole body should be quiet (no fidgeting or moving around) and your mind should be quiet (no thinking or worrying), so when you consciously relax your body and mind, sleep automatically happens. Try listening to this tape, very likely u will fall asleep midway when the tape is playing

definitely talk to your doctor. She might prescribe a sleep medication, or she might recommend some lifestyle changes, such as not having caffeine for at least 6 hours before bed, or not using the television or computer for the hour or two before bed.

You might also try chamomile tea, or another non-caffeinated tea that you like.Health Question & Answer

This is not a quick and easy answer.

You first must determine what is keeping you awake. For a lot of people it is anxiety. If this is the case for you, ie. if you cant sleep because your mind will not shut down, then you need to see a doctor. You will probably do well with a consult to a psychiatrist, who can help you with the things that are keeping you awake, and proscribe medication if needed.Health Question & Answer

you need to talk to your doctor about that. maybe he can give you a better or different prescription for your sleeping pills.

sleeping medication is nothing to fool around with. too many pills or the right combination of pills can kill you!Health Question & Answer
