Blocked Ears Due to Cold?!

Question: Blocked Ears Due to Cold.?
I've just had a cold, and now i'm experiencing a blocked right ear, like the one you get on the plane. This is a tad bit more painful.
Any ideas on how to fix it!.?Health Question & Answer

There is a tube that connects your middle ear and your throat called the eustachian tube. When your throat is sore or swollen, it can block off the opening between your ear and your throat, and fluid that would normally drain out becomes trapped in the middle ear space. Sometimes yawning or swallowing liquid will force your eustachian tube open, just like when you're on a plane. This could relieve the pressure. Another possibility is that you have an ear infection. Your doctor can diagnose an ear infection, and if that is the case, s/he may or may not prescribe an antibiotic. I hope you're feeling better soon!Health Question & Answer
