Question: Serotonin levels and Marijuana.?
So I used to smoke a lot of weed about 2 years back and now I'm curious if this might be the cause for why my serotonin levels are messed up. I am now very anxious and depressed all the time and I'm on Prozac and Clonazepam to help me out. I was just curious if the fact that I used to smoke lots of weed (and opium a few times) contriubuted to why my serotonin levels are quite low.?Health Question & Answer

Your body begins to depend on it, and even after a few uses will have a permanent effect. it could possibly have damaged some brain cells, and that could account for the need to have to take anti depressants. it is still not known what kind of problems you can develop from too much drug use, but if you have a mental problem, it is best to try and stay away from them. i would think that the opium caused more problems than the weed did.Health Question & Answer

i think the opium would definitely affect your seritonin receptors. weed not as much but it still does affect your brain cells in ways we cant really understand. Health Question & Answer
