Why do I keep blacking out?!

Question: Why do I keep blacking out.?
I have been blacking out for around a yearish now.
They're not really black outs as such just my eyes go all black and I can't see anything but I'm still conscious and I get really dizzy that makes me loose my balance and almost fall over. They last for around 3-7 seconds and they usually occur if I have just been sat down and I quickly get up, but they can occur randomly.
When I'm talking to my friends and I blackout but I still carry on talking to them even though I can't see them.
I just wondered if anyone knows what it could be. It happened 5 times to me in about 20 minutes the other day.
Does anyone know what it could be and if it is serious or not.?
Thanks.Health Question & Answer

this happens to me a lot too, i'm thirteen and i dont eat a lot, im picky, when i asked my doctor about it she said that it's because im dehydrated. i dont nesecarily black out, it looks like a tv screen when it goes fuzzy, like snow, kinda, idk if you know what i mean, but drink something it does help, and when you get up try to do it gradually, if youre lounging on the couch sit up straight for minute or two then stand up. You probably are experiencing low blood sugar..When you start to get dizzy, get a piece of candy or some orange juice or a gatorade..

I have it too, it is just your bodies way of telling you needs some sugar..

Or you are on drugs and are blacking out, or you have been awake for to long, but I am betting you have low blood sugar!..

Just next time it happens eat or drink something with sugar in it!..I usually grab a peppermint..Health Question & Answer

That particular symptom is caused by low blood pressure.

Get an exam and some blood work. You may be anemic.

Get up very slowly until you can get diagnosed. And, start taking a vitamin, with iron, right away.

You may also have a serious disorder, given that this happens when you are standing and can't see. I find this worrisome and so should you.Health Question & Answer

It IS serious. If you were using "dangerous" machinery (like a car), it could be disastrous.

It could be anything from a minor inner ear problem to a brain tumor. That includes petite mal seizures, medication reaction, hypotension, and hypoglycemia, to name a few.

Stop fooling around - get to a physician. Be honest about symptoms and use of drugs/alcohol.Health Question & Answer

It might be low blood sugar. Eat small meals regularly throughout the day, and keep a piece of candy or a package of peanut butter crackers or something in your pocket to snack on to help.

But it could be something much more serious than low blood sugar. I would highly recommend that you go see your doctor immediately!

Good luck, and I hope everything's alright! =]
Have a good day!

I'd recommend you see a doctor - go to a general practitioner for a physical and describe the symptoms. It could be serious, it could be minor, but it's best to know for certain - sooner rather than later.Health Question & Answer

I can not believe that this has been happening to you for over a year and you still haven't seen a doctor but you come on here to ask if it's serious.?.?.? Yes!! This could be VERY serious! Go to the Dr or ER immediately!!! No one here can diagnose you!Health Question & Answer

i went to a neurologist because i used to have the same problem. he gave me some pills and eventually they went away. Since our body chemistry is different i cannot guarantee the same result but i would start there.Health Question & Answer
