Try to remember a couple of things:

(1) First, the withdrawal from cigarettes is not hard at all. I know you probalby THINK it is...but it isn't. You withdraw every night when you go to sleep--and it doesn't even wake you up! All the nicotine is out of your system after only 5-7 days--and the only reason you want to smoke is the habits you've cultivated and that:

(2) Smoking is an addiction.

Your ADDICTION is telling you to smoke. Not your body. Not your brain. The Addiction. It's like another whole person whose entire reason for living is smoking cigarettes--and you let it live inside you. You don't HAVE to let it. When you want a cigarrette, it's not YOU talking, it's the addiction. Just tell it to shut up and leave you alone. Don't let it even START to speak. And definitely don't let it speak FOR you.

(3) If smoking was so good for you, why was it such a hard sell.? The companies that make cigarettes felt they had to INCREASE the substances in the tobacco that made it more addictive--or people would not have put up with the side effects! This is absolutely true. And did you notice--they never featured anyone in their ads who wasn't young, successful, attractive--and ACTIVE. They never featured real SMOKERS, in other words: people who had premature facial lines, saggy skin, dull eyes, bad breath and a lack of lung capacity. Or people who could barely take a walk around the block without huffing and puffing!

(4) Every time you stop smoking a cigarette, your addiction gives you 15 minutes until it starts bugging you for another one. You're a slave to it. Don't be enslaved.

(5) WANT what non-smokers have: clean breath, good lungs, longer lives and prettier faces--and lives that are free of slave-masters. Non-smokers don't have burn holes in their clothes or car seats--their houses and hair don't smell like ashtrays, they don't have to take 10 minutes out of every hour so they can go poison themselves. They can kiss someone without grossing them out. They can taste all their food. They can smell things. They can do aerobics without collapsing. They live longer, sleep better, smell better and look better.

Hope this helps.

Health Question & Answer

Good luck.
I quit after a dentist visit. My lip was too numb to seal around the cigarette. I kept waiting for the feeling to come back and after hours of waiting i decided to wait a little longer several times. Three and a half years later, I'm still waiting.
No patches, no gum, no pills. Just a very intense week and a few more stressful weeks after that.
