What is a good morning pick me up?!


Question: What is a good morning pick me up.?
I get up early every day for work and I'm constantly tired through out the day. I work six days a week, nine hours a day at a book store. I run a few errands through out the day as needed but nothing more than driving to a meeting with my bookkeeper or picking up my husband for lunch. After that I go home, pick up my grandmother for dinner and cook. After taking her home I do what ever house hold chores need to be done and go to bed. I make sure to get a solid eight hours of sleep but am still tired when I get up the next morning. What I'm looking for is something that could help me with an energy boost and help "pep" me up for the day. Thanks!Health Question & Answer

I start out every morning with 2 cups of coffee, but there are other options... I don't drink coffee later in the day because the half-life of caffeine is six hours (meaning that, if you drank a cup of coffee at 3pm, half of the caffeine would still be in your body by 9pm, possibly disrupting sleep!) (1)

I have tried the 5-hour energy shot, which works very well. I do worry about taking lots of extra vitamins all the time, like 6 days/week like you said yo u work, not to mention the cost.

I have also taken a b12 vitamin, which really helps.

The main thing for later in the day is to stay hydrated and avoid refined sugars.

I believe part of the issue is that you need some more rest and time to yourself! With that busy schedule, your body can run down and not function as well. This happens in over-trained athletes, and they take a lot of time to recover.
