She was actually following proper procedure. The first rule in any type of injection is to draw back first to make sure you're not in an artery or vein prior to pushing the medicine. As to the air embolism, you would have to inject roughly a liter of air directly into a vein in order for you to die like you see on TV. You have to tell somebody like the senior nurse. It is not encouraged because of the risk of infection, beside the air embolism and other complications. Usually the laboratory would let the nurses know how much blood to take.Health Question & Answer
no.. its fine.. and honestly.. the very very very very tiny air bubble in IV's or in this type of situation are not enough to cause an air embolism.. it would have to be more air than that to cause a real issue, Health Question & Answer
