Try waking up earlier, by the end of the day it may make you more tired and help you fall asleep quicker.

The only "trick" that ever seemed to work for me personally is to cool yourself down. A drop in temperature can trigger your body that its time for sleep. I've tried things like taking a cool shower before bed or open the window and put an extra blanket on if its too cold.Health Question & Answer

I have the same problem but I overcome it by not sleeping for a while. Go ahead and stay up all night but force yourself to stay up during the day also. I guarantee that a couple of days of this and you will sleep like a baby at night. But I also found out that once I get on a "day" schedule I must maintain that schedule because if I stay up late for two or three nights in a row, I find myself backing my bedtime up until I'm back to being a day sleeper. So then I have to retrain myself all over again. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

This may be just your natural pattern of sleep if being awake during the day is that important to you look into polyphasic sleeping.
In polyphasic sleeping you only nap every 4 to 5 hours this tricks your body to go into REM sleep whenever you take a nap. Health Question & Answer
