Lip piercings..? (experienced people only)?!

Question: Lip piercings...? (experienced people only).?
(Just so you know, I'm a straight male).

I'm getting my lip pierced on Saturday and I'm getting a ring put in. I was just wondering, is there a "gay" side to get a lip piercing like there is with an ear piercing.? Because, obviously I don't want to get this side pierced just in case.

also, is there any advice you have for when getting a piercing.? I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot!Health Question & Answer

Many lesbians, such as myself, have gotten the center of their lower lip pierced (labret piercing) and overtime, I believe the role of a labret had been taken out of context and applied directly to the gay/lesbian community. I haven't seen many gay men with labrets, however, I do know that most straight men would not be willing to get a labret simply for the fact that they don't want to give off the "gay" vibe, just as any other straight man would not pierce his right ear. Being a modded human being, I happen to look down upon piercing stereotypes. Piercings are not meant to serve as tags, labeling people by their orientation and whatnot. I feel that if a person is interested in getting a piercing, he or she should go for it, no matter what it may "represent" these days. I mean, isn't that what it's all about, modifying your body, I mean.? Being an individual, being yourself.? I'm not trying to ridicule you or anybody else who happens to want to watch out for the "gay" piercings and such, I'm just trying to prove the fact that it's unnecessary and uncalled for. Still, whatever floats your boat.

On another note, clean your piercing three times everyday. Salt soaks are a great way to speed up the process of healing. Whatever you do, never use alcohol or peroxide to clean the fresh wound, all it will do is dry it out, and thus making it more prone to infection. Instead, wash it with antibacterial soap. Gargle mouthwash after every meal, and be sure to gently remove any crusties that may form on the outside of the hole with the use of a wet cotton ball. One thing you most definitely don't want to do is play with your piercing. Picking at the scabs or taking the ring out constantly will only make the potential of an infection taking place greater.

Here's a pretty informative site on lip piercing aftercare: http://www.ringsofdesire.com/care-lip.ht...

Hope that helped!Health Question & Answer

Get two, right in the middle of each lip, then link them together.
Sorry, I just cannot imagine why people do this, especially on their lips or even worse hygienically, their tongue, and when people talk about 'crusties' and 'picking at the scabs'...Health Question & Answer

I would say that the side of the lip with epithelial cells on it is the gay side. Just an opinion though.
