My boyfriend is sick, and we don't know with what?!

Question: My boyfriend is sick, and we don't know with what.?
Starting last Friday, my boyfriend has been complaining about having panic attacks. He has a few a day (although when he has them his heart rate stays normal, and I thought one of the main symptoms was that the heart rate is increased). He gets really sweaty/sometimes cold chills, get really nervous, has chest pain, gets really weak, and tired. However, it seems like he continually has these symptoms; he has had chest pain pretty much the entire week, has had trouble sleeping, feels depressed, has no appetite, is paranoid, sweaty, fatigued. Even though he is really hot he refuses to take off his sweater, and when I asked him why he still had it on he said he didn't know (he's not cutting, we went to the doctor yesterday and I saw his arms). He said he started feeling weird after a girl in his class "had a heart attack". I asked him specifically what happened and he just said that she left the class room, and I asked him how he knew she had a heart attack then, and he said he had no idea. I'm not really sure what's going on, it seems like his thoughts are a little disoriented.. and he's pretty paranoid. He has ups and downs in his behavior. Today he exclaimed "maybe you're causing my panic attacks!" and I asked why on earth he thought that, and he said that he's trying to eliminate everything that might be causing his panic attacks. He also refuses to see his friends whom he usually hangs out with pretty often, but he's been seeing me everyday. He's 21. Does anyone know what could be going on with him.? He's been to the doctor, but it hasn't helped much.. he kind of wants to see a psychologist. Could this have something to do with his thyroid gland or what.?Health Question & Answer

STRESS. He's under a lot of stress, even though it may not seem like it. He should see a psychiatrist. Not because he's crazy! That's an OLD stigma. They go to school an extra 4 years, and time and time again, I see then come up with ideas or meds that no other doctor would ever think of.
He might need one or both of those anxiety meds. Keep an eye on him. If his chest really starts hurting him, or if he can't stand up, or ANYTHING weird, make sure he takes them.
The weekend's coming up, so try to get him in to a psychiatrist tomorrow, or at least to a family doctor, GP, or internist.
Bless you both, and good luck tomorrow. :)Health Question & Answer

*dont listen to GenGen..shes not too bright

Some anti-anxiety pills take a week or two to kick in.

Get him to see a doctor or therapist. Do not use webmd as a substitute, especially in anxiety cases since we tend to be the biggest hypochondriacs.

Trust me a doctor or psychotherapist is 10x better than anything someone on yahoo will answer since they are not talking with himHealth Question & Answer

maybe he's worried about that girl in his class ..maybe something is going on that you don't know about and you asking him so many questions is getting him irritated...leave him alone let him breath...and watch him get better..Health Question & Answer

You should try the sypmtom checker on webmd.com :PHealth Question & Answer
