Answers:
Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat-soluble. That means they are can easily penetrate cells and are completely absorbed in the intestine. In addition, they get stored in the body's fat, brain, liver and just about any tissue of the body. Excess amounts of these fat-soluble vitamins can cause SEVERE DAMAGE to various organs.
The other vitamins are water-soluble (dissolve in water), are not well absorbed and the kidneys excrete any excess amounts in your urine. So take vitamins B-12, B-6, C Folic Acid, etc. in large doses, if you want. You will be WASTING YOUR MONEY, however, because you will just lose most of them in your urine.
Iron, calcium, zinc, etc. are NOT vitamins. (They are salts, but often called "minerals".) Excess amounts can cause SEVERE organ damage: iron to the liver; calcium, zinc, etc.to the kidneys and other tissues.
MY ADVICE: Buy some cheap store-brand one-a-day type multi-vitamin pills and take 1 each day. Along with your food intake, that will be more than sufficient.
