Okay to email a specialist?!

I have been working with a specialist for a bizarre illness that has been hard to diagnos. I thought of something that I should tell him, but don't see him for 6 weeks from now. His email address is listed on the hospital's website. is it okay to send him an email even though he did not provide it himself.? I don't want to come across as inappropriate but I don't think I need to take up his time on the phone. Health Question & Answer
