It's called "Sleep Paralysis", I hate those, it's scary! Your awake but your body isn't...basically that's what it is.

I use to wonder what the hell it was when I woke up and I couldn't move but I could see and then I would start to have a nightmare! My mom told me it was a ghost/demon trying to get into me lmao...she's so superstitious and you shouldn't tell a kid like that.

It's normal...I mean it's not fun. I found out I usually get like that when I sleep in a certian position or when my body is tired but my "mind" isn't.Health Question & Answer

This is actually pretty normal. During REM sleep, your brain sends out signals to paralyze your muscles so that you don't act out the movements in your dreams. You probably are waking up during a deep stage of your REM cycle maybe due to an alarm clock or something else in your room waking you up. You aren't actually paralyzed, but when you awake, you feel as though you are unable to move your body. Are there any weird hallucinations that accompany the paralysis.? This is also extremely common since you are in a deep state of relaxation.

There is a medication that can help prevent this from occurring. You will probably want to talk to your doctor and he will probably want you to do a sleep study since insomnia, narcolepsy, etc are often reasons for this happening. Health Question & Answer

I'd second that... See a doctor!
He or she will want more information. How long has this been going on.? What body parts are paralyzed.? Is there any pain involved.? Do you remain paralyzed all day.? If not, how long does it last and what seems to make it go away.? What posittion are you sleeping in and what are you doing before you sleep.? How is the quality of your sleep.? Have there been any significant changes in your life before this started.?Health Question & Answer

Sounds like a neurological issue that should be discussed with an MD.Health Question & Answer
