Heya.
My god people stop judging this poor girl. Your not here to judge your here to help so help her!.
( Sorry about my rant up there to the people, you deserve a decent answer and here we go)
Upon arriving at the surgery. You are asked to fill out a form with your date of birth, name and address. You are then taken into a small doctor's office/piercing studio where you will wait for the piercer. He will then come in, and ask you where he was to put the piece of metal and then he will ask you to sit upright on the bed. He will hand you a marker and a mirror, and you ask him to just choose where he thought it looked best. He will make a small mark and check that looks okay with you, then he will put a shot of local in the dot.
The local anesthetic definitely hurts the most and you can be sure the piercing itself would ultimately hurt less without it. The injection lasts about 5-6 seconds, long enough for you to groan and say "Ow....ow....ow...". It's a very sharp, burning sensation and you can feel your lip swelling up by the second. The man will warn you he will be back in a few minutes and normally leaves you feeling like you had a duck bill on your face. Your lip will normally swell up huge but you could still feel it - only one lip may go completly numb but its normally for both lips to do so.
He will then come back and use a clamp and peirce your lip with a needle ( it dont sounds as bad as it sounds) he will then put your chosen jewelly in your lip.
Afterwards you will normally feel light headed. Your lip may swell extremely large this is normal so if you get this dont worry the piercing will normally bleed alot and ache and throb, you normally wont be able to talk for about an hour ish afterwards but after that it will be fine and your normally able to eat and drink and talk normally again.
Ice normally seems to help a bit with the after effects one vital tip i can personally give you is make sure you use a long bar to prevent the disk been embedded in your lip. Especially if you know your lips swell like madness. Apply regular ice to help it along and it should heal up quite soon.
I hope i helped with my advice. Take care, and enjoy your nice piercing. also any more questions the peircer will be able to help you with your queries and put your mind at rest further

It isn't going to hurt.? It feels amazing actually. Don't get numbing cream unless your a pansy.

His mom got a lip piercing.? Trashy, grow up. Lip piercings don't make you look tough or scene, just like a dog. Shows your going through your 'rebellious stage.' Leaves a sweet hole as a scar though, good luck with that.
