Aloha friend and don't worry...maybe approaching your "fear" of needles will help you to overcome the situation you face. As a certified nurse aid I am fairly familiar with needles and syringes but I will quickly admit to struggling with both the visual appearance and following injection of invasive devices into my body, namely the skin. I would have a nasty physical reaction each time . Nausea, sweating, symptoms leading to fainting eventually. Then I changed my attitude and pattern of thinking.
I began to remind myself "this is a good thing for my health overall." And I also visualized my wonderfully playful calico cat "scratching" me in the arm, hand, wherever the entry point was. Sounds funny and too simple doesn't it. But it worked for me! I don't feel sick anymore. I think it also helped to study the structure and functions of the skin layers. Those free nerve endings and nociceptors(pain receptors) are sending the stimulus to the brain. But your perspective of pain is up to you. It can be overcome with practice. I am living proof! Hang in there!
I found it was best not to look at the needle or stare at the injection site! Just look away and trick your mind into an alternate experience.
Oh and by the way, I have never heard of even one person dying from just the sight or injection of a syringe. By the way, if you are referring to the Gardasil/HPV immunization make sure you and your parents are fully educated on the benefits vs. risks just FYI. Most girls are just fine but no immunization is risk free, especially for those that may happen to have a predisposition (allergy) towards the constituents of the attenuated culture. Check with the nurse or doctor administering the injection. My advice is never have anything done to your body that you haven't been accurately educated about. After all its your body and the decision is ultimately yours!!!Health Question & Answer

The best way is to 'face your fear' as they say. Can't say I'm a fan of needles either, but if you don't look in my experience you never feel it and 9 times out of ten I have found they have given me the injection without me knowing!Health Question & Answer

Close your eyes and look away. Tell them not let you know when they are doing it, so you don't expect it, also if you let them know you are scared they could have another way of helping you.Health Question & Answer
