A part of my nail on my big toe is separating from the skin. I think it might have something to do with my thyroid (i'm getting checked for it). I want to make sure that no bacteria gets stuck in it. Any recommendations.?Health Question & Answer

If you don't have a fungus you don't need a fungal ointment. Just keep the toe clean and dry during the day and give it a good soak in a warm water solution with epsom salts on a daily (before bed) regime. (Or add it to your bath) Keep the nail trimmed so you don't catch it on stockings or footwear.Health Question & Answer
Lamisil ointment might help, but you may have to have Lamisil pills instead. (Prescription only) Nail fungus is really hard to clear up.
