How to run a mile / tomatoes?!

Question: How to run a mile / tomatoes.?
we run a mile for high school PE, and i need some advice

last week, i ran it in 9:30. but i really want to run it in at least 7minutes.
so i jogged/ran most of it, but walked for like half the track. but when i finished the mile and saw myself, my face was allll red and kind of blotchy. i looked bad, lolz, it was embarassing. i didnt even feel as bad as i looked :\ hah

maybe i wasnt breathing right.? ive tried breathing in my nose, out my mouth, but its really hard and i dont get enough air.

im doing something wrong if i looked like a tomatoe, so what do i do about my breathing/blood...circulation.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
During exercise your body is pumping blood a lot faster and your blood vessels expand because they need more oxygen... so you turn reddish. At your speed I really wouldn't worry about the breathing. I'd suggest trying to run the whole mile without stopping. When you can do that, maybe do some interval training; for example, sprint for 30 seconds then jog for 30 seconds, keep doing this until you've finished your mile. This will naturally increase your stride, and eventually, your run time.Health Question & Answer

You pushed yourself too hard, you should jog every day (each day increasing how far you go little by little) then eventually it would be like walking down the street for you, and you would get a better time. Remember to breath through your nose and stretch before AND after you run.Health Question & Answer

sounds like an endurance thing. work up to running the whole thing by practicing in between when you have to do it at school. try seeing how long you can run, then walk for 5 minutes and repeat. you'll see improvement if you do this at least every other day for a while. best wishes.Health Question & Answer

Well, you can't change the way you look. Its just the way it is.Health Question & Answer

only breath through your nose, not your mouth. I run xc, and that helps a lot. Health Question & Answer

that happens to me all the time.. but it's because i have rosacea..Health Question & Answer
