Am I being an enabler?!
Question: Am I being an enabler.?
My friend has been in and out of rehab for herion. She claims she is clean now, but she will not see me. She won't even text me back, just randomly sends me messages saying "okay" (once before she told me she will stop talking to her friends when she is on drugs because she is embarrassed).
I cut her out of my life when I know for sure she is using because I want to prepare myself for the worst. But the truth is, I love her and I want her to get help. That's why I try to get a hold of her every once in a while, just to make sure she is okay.
Does this make me an enabler.? Could I do more to help her.? How do I make her family want to help.? How do I get her to want to help herself.? I'm so lost and have already lost a friend to herion and don't want to lose another.

well, you aren't giving her heroin, bringing her around heroin, or justifying her use of it, so i don't think you're enabling her. Yeah you probably should try to see her. Judge for yourself in person.
Try to make her feel loved. That's all you can do. Try to point out the positive aspects of her life. Heroin is one of the hardest drugs to kick. Relapse is common.
That's too bad her family doesn't want to help her, but maybe she has burned them too often, and they can't take it anymore.
Good luck, hope things work out fo the best.
But remember some people can't be saved. Health Question & Answer
