Why can't I sleep when I try to?!

Question: Why can't I sleep when I try to.?
I got to bed around 10 or 10:30, or later. But when I try to sleep, I can't. I find myself looking at the clock to see it's 11:30 or 12, sometimes 1! Then sometimes I wake up earlier than my alarm around 7 or 6:30. Why is this.? It's annoying, I'm always tired.Health Question & Answer

Maybe you are just thinking too much. Try not to read or watch tv, 1/2 hour or hour before going to bed. Just be lazy and slowly get ready to sleep,() brush teeth(). When you do go to bed try not to think about anything, but don;t concentrate too much about not thinking. Preoccupy your mind with listening to crickets or calm noises outside. AND NO.1 rule is don't look at your clock. If you are resting your eyes and laying down peacefully, even though you are asleep, you will feel less tired in the morning. I have had the same problem. Hope this helps!!Health Question & Answer

It may be the case that you sleep too much, sleep little, you don't dream or you think too much. Usually when people have enough sleep they wake up quite early, the same could be true if we have nightmares, are hungry, need the bathroom, etc.

Your body may not be active enough to release endomorphins that actually help with depression, depression is linked to variable sleeping times and irregular eating habits, depending on the symptoms. Getting out and being active, even walking for an hour after a snack would probably get you a good nights sleep if all conditions are favorable like a dark room, proper air circulation, no noise, proper blankets for warmth, and eating a small snack just about ten minutes before bed can make a difference. Getting all those troubles of the day and saying,"I'll deal with them when I have time, not now." Is a good start, it makes you feel relaxed.Health Question & Answer

Maybe you have something on your mind. Stress is a big factor in this type of sleep loss. I used to and still have some problems with sleeping. It doesn't sound like insomnia though, but it does sound like you have a problem. Maybe you should talk to a counselor at your school, or a psychologist. If it's really bad and effects your day to day life then you should talk to your parents and ask a doctor. But try to stay away from medicine, you may end up dependent on pills to fall asleep.Health Question & Answer

this happens to be too! I sleep good at night because I tried different things. If you want to go to bed at 10 then get in bed at 9 and read a book this makes your eyes very heavy! also don't take naps every day. Exercising at least 3 times a weeks helps and take a Multi purpose vitamin every day. All of this helps me have a great night sleep. I get up to 10 hours by doing all of this. I know it seems like allot but if you make it your daily routine it will get easier.Health Question & Answer
