Why is it that as soon as I feel anxious, I start to develop stomach problems, heart skipping beats, etc?!

Question: Why is it that as soon as I feel anxious, I start to develop stomach problems, heart skipping beats, etc.?
Is anxiety/stress/nervousness THAT powerful.?

I just can't seem to beat it, and it causes very uncomfortable symptoms in me.

Is that normal or should I be concerned.?

Especially if I have to take antacids and other things to deal with the problems anxiety causes me.?

Answers:
Yes it is that powerful. You may have a problem overreacting to stimuli, your body is only doing a very good job at what it is supposed to do. You need to learn to relax.
I had a similar problem, and I have found that getting into a regular exercise routine was the way to eliminate excess worry and anxiety. Your body is prepared to handle certain amounts of stress. Because we live in a day and time when many stresses are eliminated (the need for food, water, shelter, etc.) we have excess energy that needs an outlet. Without exercise, we will expend this energy over any little thing that may annoy us.
It's normal. Instead of relying on antacids and other forms of medication, like the typical American, try to get more exercise and remove processed foods from your diet. You'll feel a lot better. Health Question & Answer

Yes stress/anxiety is that powerful. Lets say you encountered a bear in the wilderness, one of the first things that happen are you pupils dilate and your digestion comes to a stop. Pretty much anything that isn't helping you get away stops.. it helps your body to focus on the bear and only the bear. Well when was the last time you saw a bear.? We don't have to face the same types of anxiety our ancestors did but the body treats the anxiety the same all these years later even though its not as tragic as a bear encounter. A stomach ache could be the feeling of different things in your body stopping or changing due to the anxiety. Sorry for rambling =/ Sometimes anxiety relief is as easy as finding the symtoms and learning how to control them individually. There are medications that could help or alternative things such as biofeedback.Health Question & Answer

Yes, it is.

And I don't think it's normal, you should really see someone about that! because there are SOOOOO many illnesses that can happen as a result of stress, so many. You need to get it under control as soon as you can so something worse doesn't happen. Seriously. Like a doctor or something... =/Health Question & Answer
