I have a mole issue and I am in need of advice or other peoples similiar problems with good endings!!?!

Question: I have a mole issue and I am in need of advice or other peoples similiar problems with good endings!!.?
I have a mole on my right cheek and like twice a year it gets really sore, raised and darker. My whole cheek feels like its on fire for the first day then somehow I don't know because I don't touch it but it seems to form a puncture and puss seeps out followed by bleeding although just spotting not streaming (still worrying) then day two it isn't as raised but still sore the whole cheek no longer burns just the surrounding area maybe 1cm all around the mole. Then day three its easier and it progresses this way until its back to normal can be between 5 and 7 days although sometimes it has scabbed over. The mole doesn't grow in size circumference wise anyway, it returns to it's natural colour when the irritation is over and like I have previously mentioned it only happens about twice a year it isn't a regular thing. Some more notes I should add is that I wear foundation daily Max Factor, the mole has hairs growing from it which are plucked when need be. I have seen a doctor about it in December '07 although by the time I could get to see him with the flu and so forth at that time of year it was almost back to normal but he did examine it and said it was fine. I am hoping to make an appointment tomorrow to see the doctor but if I can't get an appointment tomorrow I can't go until next week and it will be better by then. I guess all I am looking for is reassuring personal stories that could stop me from panicking and also maybe some facts because I could sit here and read everything about moles but it will only panic me more because my mole looks nothing like any of the moles in their pictures. If you can help it would be much appreciated.Health Question & Answer

You should make that appt and go see a doctor. They will remove the mole (it doesn't hurt) and then do a biopsy on it. In a few days they will call you and tell you if its benign or malignant. But I would check that our as soon as possible. Moles can be dangerous. Esp if its raised and dark. If the color has changed that is not a good sign. also, if the mole grows bigger or the mole is assymetrical that can be a bad sign too. Just get it checked. The earlier its checked the better.
Don't want you to worry though. I had three moles on me that were raised, dark and big and i got them removed and they were benign, so all was good!Health Question & Answer

I have two moles on either cheek, and a few on my back. The bigger one on my back hurts when i scracth it on accident and it has changed colors. my mom told me that if a moles gets really dark then that can be a sign of cancer. So if i were you i would definatly have them checked out. You can also have them freezed off. which doesnt really hurt. Health Question & Answer

it sounds like theres probably a slight problem, but nothing that cant be solved by your doctor. if u cant get the appoinment tomorrow, then take a photo or two of it and bring them with you to the doctor. describe all of your symptoms to them and they should be able to diagnose you as well as if they saw it themselves. i hope that helps.Health Question & Answer

You should go see a dermatologist, and they will want to do a biopsy (which will mean removing the mole in all likelihood). The biopsy is for your own good, to find out if there is cancer. The mole is obviously acting strangely (most moles just sit there and never do anything except grow hairs), which indicates there is something wrong with it. Be proactive and find out what is wrong. Skin cancer nowadays is successfully treated in most cases when discovered in early stages.Health Question & Answer
