Starving, makes your stomach smaller?!

Question: Starving, makes your stomach smaller.?
I heard that starving actually makes your stomach smaller(and make you eat less) i was thinking of starving myself for no more than 3 days to see if it works, and then gradually eat normal again. Would this be ok to do.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Your stomach is a muscle, if its used to being stretched to accommodate large quantities of food it will expand. If it doesnt have to do that it will shrink. It does make you feel more full when you eat... that is until you eat your next big meal. Its not worth your time, youll be uncomfortable and starving, and no, its not okay to do. Its dangerous to your health and stupid because it will not accomplish what you think it will. As soon as you eat normal amount of food your stomach will expand, and although you may feel more full for your first few meals, if you go right back to eating the way you used to it will make no difference in no time. You will also likely binge when you do start eating again because you will be so hungry from not eating for 3 days. Fasts are serious matters that have to be worked into and out of carefully by eating the right foods and the right amounts. If you jump right into starving yourself, youre going to make yourself sick.

Instead, try to eat smaller portioned meals, having small meals about 5 times a day. This speeds up your metabolism, and also shrinks your stomach because you are eating less and therefore your stomach muscle has to stretch less. You will eventually feel more full eating less, and the increased metabolism will help you lose weight.Health Question & Answer

Yeah your stomach will shrink, and as soon as you go back to eating normal again it will go back to its normal size. I agree with the other answers, you will gain more weight when you go back to eating normal after entering starvation mode in which your body will cling to every calorie it takes in. also this is a horrible idea in general. If you think you need to lose weight, you can exercise more and eat healthier, but do not drastically reduce your calorie intake.Health Question & Answer

This is an extremely dangerous thing to do. Your body has to have the nutrients, vitamins and mineral it needs all day everyday. You could very well end up being taken to the hospital by ambulance because of passing out. You can't do this and it won't shrink your stomach. The only way to do that is with time and watching the portions of food that you eat and need.Health Question & Answer

absolutely not.

your stomach will shrink, but your metabolism will come to a halt. When you eat during the next few days you'll pack on 5lbs.

avoid carbonated beverages and heavy carbs. it's safe to cut out some calories and eliminate foods that increase your appetite but very unhealthy to seriously and quickly decrease your food intake. there are no positive results, and no weight loss.Health Question & Answer

Starving yourself doesnt make your stomach smaller, starving yourself actually makes you gain weight, then lose it very quickly.but starving yourself for 3 days is not a good idea because you lose energy, and vitamins that you need daily and might cause problems. but they will only be minor.Health Question & Answer

now, im not a dr. or anything, but i do know that food does speed up your metabolism. so yes, you will loose weight, however, when you eat again, you will gain weight alot faster and keep it up because your metabolism is slow. your metabolism is the chemical reaction that gets energy and helps you burn weight. so if you eat healthy and exercise its a much healthier approach :)Health Question & Answer

I wouldn't suggest that because its bad for your health. Yes it does make your stomach smaller but if you want to do that just eat less than what you would normally eat for a while and see what happens. I know this from experience one of my friends tried this for a while and her stomach acids built up to a high level.Health Question & Answer

no way anorexic much.? eat eat EAT girl! if you want to lose weight do it the normal way and work out! or diet at least! starving yourself will slow your matabalism and it will get ruined so once you eat after a while you will gain it all back and EVEN MORE! unless you can be bolimic but i hope you enjoy yellow teath puke breath and death =] plus starving yourself will cause death to!Health Question & Answer

no. starving yourself is actually worse than you might think, because it triggers your brain into a survival mode, making you actually GAIN weight. so, you see, not only will you be dealing with the intense pains of hunger, but also be gaining weight at the same time.Health Question & Answer

Eating less is a LIFESTYLE. You have to commit to change this. No tricks are going to work long-term. When you have reached your goal weight (which should take more than six months to do in a healthy way) your body will naturally require less food on its own. But, if you have an emotional addiction to food than that source needs to be treated. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Uhm. No. That's really unhealthy. Eat normally. Odds are, once you starve yourself, you will end up eating again and will gain more weight than you would have had originally. Just don't starve yourself. Try eating healthy and exercising. ;DHealth Question & Answer

You already know it's not okay to do...so that's probably not the question you should be asking.
Starving yourself does shrink your stomach, but then you'll also end up looking bloated...and being outrageously uncomfortable.Health Question & Answer

No don't starve yourself. Not only is it dangerous, but anything you do eat your body will store as fat. You you will actually increase body fat because your body is in starve modeHealth Question & Answer
