Question: Premise; You are a surgeon.......................
Answers:
As a surgeon I will definitely postpone the surgery for any major procedure that will requires general anesthesia.
Doing surgery on a patient with acute MI increases the morbidity of the procedure. What good is it to remove a tumor (Cancer) on a dead patient.?
But having said that: skin tumor can be removed under local anesthesia once the MI is stabilized. The waiting period is 6 months after MI for major surgery, minor skin excision is probably less. Waiting period post MI is also improving with improvement in the treatment of myocardial infarction.
I cannot think of skin procedure, in the temple, that will required 8 hours of surgery unless a radical excision for melanoma.Health Question & Answer

postpone if the surgery was elective. Although, an EKG is NOT a verifiable method of determining when a heart attack has happened. That has to be done with blood tests for the levels of cardiac enzymes released when there is damage to a heart. The EKG only reflects that damage has been done, not when it happened.Health Question & Answer
Aaaah that was the purpose of the surgery was for their heart.Health Question & Answer
