I have a nagging cough that just won't go away!?!

Question: I have a nagging cough that just won't go away!.?
The only time the cough stops is when I have a cough drop in my mouth, and it seems as soon as it dissolves, the cough returns. This cough just started on Sunday, and by Monday, I've lost my voice. There isn't much sinus drainage, and no other cold symptoms.

I don't want to keep using cough drops, but I can't help it. Taking drinks of water doesn't help, and neither does drinking hot fluids and any over-the-counter medicine hasn't helped, either. (Not even NyQuil!) and I know my coworkers are annoyed by my coughing, but I can't help it.

Does anyone have any suggestions.? (I'm going to the doctor on Friday, so that's already taken care of.)Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You might have laryngitis considering your voice is gone. I'm glad to know you are seeing a doctor because you might need some antibiotics depending on what type of infection it is (viral or bacterial).

Don't worry though, it's not too serious and it might possibly be almost gone by the time you see the doctor. If that is so, you still should go. Try not to yell or shout or raise your voice because that will only irritate the larynx further. also, take a few anti-inflammatory tablets like Advil.
