I totally understand what you are going through, as I went through something similar when I started college as a Freshman. I literally lost the Freshman 15! It was terrible because I couldn't keep food down.
This is what I did:
- sought counseling through the school's counseling center, which actually helped to some degree
- stopped drinking when I ate, just drank an hour or so before I ate or an hour or so after I ate (milk, juice, soda, and or other liquids)
- started to focus on getting quality sleep and did whatever I could to make sure I got sleep/ naps in the afternoon and at night
- no alcohol/ drugs (didn't use either before I started college)
- limited my intake of caffeine, as that would irritate my stomach
- ate smaller meals, more frequently
- limited any activity around when I ate/ didn't eat on the run... would eat and just focus on eating rather than multi-tasking (studying and eating is a perfect disaster when trying to keep the stomach settled)
- avoided spicy, fatty, fried foods, and anything else that might irritate my stomach or would sit heavy on my stomach (including dairy products when I was especially nauseated)
Try and hang in there. You have to eat to keep up your energy, so focus on the food giving you energy - not making you sick. See a doctor if it doesn't seem to improve. Hope you feel better soon!Health Question & Answer
