Are my friends playing with their lives and brains in the "fainting game"? What should I do !?!?!

Question: Are my friends playing with their lives and brains in the "fainting game".? What should I do !.?!.?
Please read through the whole thing:
Recently, a boy at my school (we are in Year 8) has started making people faint. What happens is the person first crouches down and takes in 12 to 15 deep breaths, then they quickly hold their breath, stand up and have their lungs pushed in. It doesn't affect some people, but some people faint for a few seconds and some people just "zone out a bit". People look on and laugh (this is done behind the lockers, so the teachers don't see) and support the person if they fall or loose their balance. I don

Well I live in Ireland and we used to do this to each other years ago. We used to call it The American Dream lol but one of my friends had it done to him (he has asthma) he fainted, banged his head off a wall, and had a very bad asthma attack. Rushed to hospital, thank God he was ok after it but the Doc at the hospital told us that we were actually squashing our insides and we were causing damage to ourselvesHealth Question & Answer

I advise you not to even think of trying it as you could burst an Artery to the Heart
or burst a vein which could cause Serious Damage. I would have to let them think what they wanted to think about me but I would not Endanger my Health for any Stupid PrankHealth Question & Answer

if your worried inform a teacher about itHealth Question & Answer

IF YOU HAVE TIME, TO GO AND SEE THE DOCTOR . GOOD HEALTHHealth Question & Answer

Haha, kids. It is pretty common to do things like this - my friends used to hit eachother over the head to see if we could give eachother concussions. Not clever...
It is always a little dangerous to hyperventilate, but mostly because it makes other health problems worse, or there can be complications. Breathing like that lowers the level of oxygen in your blood for a moment, which would starve a few brain cells every time you do it.
Maybe you could give an anonymous tip to a teacher or something.?Health Question & Answer

a friend of mine had an epileptic attack when we did this..and the doc said he could have burst a blood vessel and killed himself...dont try it..and tell your friends not to as well Health Question & Answer

could cause brain damage - i would inform a member of staff (on the quiet) perhaps they could express the dangers of this in an assembly.

as it is a novelty, people will be interested, they wont believe what dangers it can cause unless someone in authority tells them.

Health Question & Answer

That is VERY dangerous!

This exact subject was on the news a couple years back and teenagers have indeed died from this. Please, don't participate in this... whatever you do.

I know it's hard to confront them yourself about this, and chances are they won't listen to you. So I would probably go talk to someone on the staff and keep yourself anonymous. You can save someone's life.Health Question & Answer

Do not jeopardize your life. This activity can cause brain damage. The funny feeling occurs due to lack of blood flow and oxygen to the brain. If I were you I would inform a teacher and/or principle. I think you may have a hard time convincing your friend. If you do try and reason with him, I would say I'd rather not risk a lifetime of brain damage for a few seconds of "funny feeling". (And you might add: this is especially true, since you can "safely" get all the funny feeling you like once old enough to drink.)Health Question & Answer

This is a hilarious thing to do, i did it in my school days. There's no need to worry, we made a guy pass out for about 5 minutes once, we were bricking it in case a teacher came by and found this guy unconscious on the floor lol. I might have to revive this when im next drinking with me friends !
Health Question & Answer

Your right...it is not healthy. I work with the same age group here in the US and fortunately the ones I work with haven't been doing the same thing. Your best bet is to let a teacher or other adult at school know. If your not comfortable talking to them, write them an anonymous note. If that is a trend that is catching on with your classmates, it is important that the dangers are addressed school-wide and the teachers are aware of it.Health Question & Answer
