Is organ donor/recipient info generally available or is that considered privileged information and private?!

Question: Is organ donor/recipient info generally available or is that considered privileged information and private.?
Answers:
Depending on how it works in your state, you have to go through the transplant cooridnator, or the family services department at the organ recovery agency.

General information about the recipient is readily available - like gender, age, perhaps hobbies, marital status or if they have children/grandchildren, maybe what they do for work, etc.

You may also write to them. They might write back, but they may not be ready to do so right away.

If you would like to meet them after they write back, you can request to set up a meeting, and if they agree, you can meet (if you have the approval of the agency involved; sometimes they make judgement calls that one of the parties is not ready depending on their emotional, physical state).Health Question & Answer
