Paramedics............?!

Question: Paramedics.............?
If you call an ambulance to your home and the paramedics turn up and they know who the person is ,are they allowed to then go out off duty and pass the information on or is it confidential.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
They have a duty of confidentiality, which is virtually absolute. If you have an issue contact the local NHS Trust's complaints officer.Health Question & Answer

they are allowed to pass the information on to another paramedic if needed and doctors etc but they are not allowed to discuss the case with any members of the public/ family/ friends etc and if they do they are breaking their code of practice , and confidentiality laws. If this happens they will be disciplined and possibly suspended/ struck off depending on the severity and damage done . Hope this helps :)Health Question & Answer

Everything of yours is confidential unless you are under 18.

They cannot, by law, tell any other person, even related to you about your case or what happened. They can tell about a case but not give away any clues like "he had brown hair, was 5'2, born January 12 1980" or your name.

Doctors/paramedics/counselors/whatever can be sued, fired, suspended... the list goes on.Health Question & Answer
