Getting Over a Caffeine Addiction?!


Question: Getting Over a Caffeine Addiction.?
I was drinking 4-5 caffinated beverages a day and started to suffer from constant extreme exhaustion, jitteriness, anxiety & headaches.

I went to the Doctor and he told me that I needed to cut the caffeine.

I haven't had any caffeine in two weeks I still crave it like crazy.

Will I ever not have cravings for it & will I ever be able to drink caffeine again regularly.?Health Question & Answer

I must tell you, once you get over the withdrawal, you'll feel okay again. It's a pain--trust me, I used to drink large iced coffees every morning, and now I don't need it at all.. my energy is constant and I have more endurance than I used to, no "crash" at the end of the day, or constant headaches craving more coffee. I'd say in the future you could have it sparingly, but realize you don't want to be dependent on any substance or it'll make your body do crazy things. Good luck.. :)Health Question & Answer

I used to drink 15 drinks that were caffeinated years ago then started with blood pressure problems. I had to cut out the caffeine to get it down. I can not stay away from it totally and it has been 10 years. I drink 20 ounces of it a day. You have to stay away from chocolate and soda's like pepsi and Coke cola also though. There is caffeine in both. Now though when I need the caffeine and drink a little a night to stay awake a little longer it works. Before I had to have a coffee with a chocolate bar. Shew that was a rush but then a crash after. Find out what you can handle then don't go over your max Level. You shouldn't get the shakes that way.Health Question & Answer

i think for now you should try drinking herbal caffienne-free tea. it will soothe you nerves and you wont feel exhausted, jittery or anxious. i also suggest getting some fruits and vegatables in you. the nutrition should make your headaches better. once you've gotten over the addiction and can pass by starbucks without running in or thinking about it then you can talk to your doctor about if you can have coffee again. i kno because i used to have this problem myself and i replaced it with green or pepperment tea. not only did i not get headaches but i felt more relaxed and my insides like it way better. i still drink ice blended coffee since it never bothered me. i only drink coffee when i have to stay up to finish something. hopes this helps.Health Question & Answer

yes, you will but first let your body get this out of its system then gradually start your beverages again. I used to get caffeine headaches and its no fun. I just try to do my coffee like no more than 3 cups a day. Good luck!!Health Question & Answer
