OK...medical question. Kind of gross.?!

Question: OK...medical question. Kind of gross..?
I was wondering...I just went poop. When I wiped, there was a small amount of bright red blood on the paper. I know it's nothing. This is my q. If you have a bleeding spot on your butthole, why doesn't it get infected when you wipe and drag poo accross it.? I'm sorry. Real q. Not meant to offend.Health Question & Answer

Fair question in reply. It may not get infected because it is self-irrigating as long as it continues to bleed, and if not bleeding there is mucus passing across the lesion to carry away potentially harmful e-coli bacteria. We also have a certain amount of immunity; that's putting it diplomatically.

You may have a cut from abrasion with a cleansing product, or truly hemmorhoids as suggested.

More than often, since hemmorhoids IMO are likely to be rare, it is a stretch wound from straining.

Your white blood cells and antibodies will fight the germs and intruders as much as is necessary, and clotting occurs to cover your inner dermal layers.

Once in awhile, a person will end up with a pustulent infection that needs to be lanced, and it happens 99 percent of the time in a closed area such as a sebacious/oil gland, pore or hair follicle where there is no air circulation and no possibility to dry and heal.

Antibiotics take care of that, administered or prescribed by doctors. Health Question & Answer

Yes, it can get infected, but it is rare. The chemical process of your body actually controls the bacteria growth in your waste product, and as long as it is in balance, your own immune system can control those bacteria getting into your system. If you are to touch someone else's waste, that is a different story altogether.

You should keep your area clean, but other than your normal hygiene procedure, you don't need to do anything special. Do NOT use alcohol swab or wipe in your area. That will dry the area and will make healing that much more difficult.Health Question & Answer

just wash the area after.
The opening of the `wound` is on the inside.
I have sometimes a lot of blood:its called a fissure.
Interesting, i never asked myself, how come the fissure(its a tear in the lining of the colon/rectum) does not get infected from poo.
I know someone who had hemorrhoid surgery:next day or the 2nd day,she had to get an enema to wash the inside too.
Every day she had to do this!
ouch.Health Question & Answer

lol...um u got me thinking now! you should prolly ask your doctor on ur next check up. That is a good question though. I know that alot of nutrients and enzyms don't get absorbed so it naturally come out of you when you go to the bathroom. Mabe thats what is keepn it from gettn infected...Health Question & Answer

I would say it is because you have a good immune system...or you take a shower before it can get infected...Be glad it is bright red...if it was black it came from with in...Take a alcohol pad and wipe it....LOL hope it helps...Health Question & Answer
