First of all why do you want to know.? I work in a nursing home and there are two different types of pads we use,, one is known as a Chux(throw away), it is plastic and green on one side and then on the other side, the side the resident lays on is an absorbant cotton like material. The other thing we use is just a lift sheet ( not disposible), it is a very thick sheet that we use to lift the residents in bed if they can't do it for themselves, it is not to soak up urine. In answer to your question I have no idea how much urine in would take to soad though a hospital pad, but from experience I know it has a lot to do withhow long the resident lays on the urine. We have a resident who will wet her pants and then refuse to either allow us to change her and her bed or get up and go to the bathroom, her bed has to be changed every time she finaly agrees to get out of bed. I hope this was helpful...

By the way Summer not all care givers are psychotic, I like my job and I love my residents and I do my best to provide the best care possible.Health Question & Answer

The patient is changed every two hours and it is against the law to abuse the patient and this would be considered about if found wet. I love nursing home patient it is unfortunate they don't have family to take care of them. The patient is at the mercy of the psychotic care givers who often abuse and beat the patient. They have no family and set there all day alone. I visted a home tonight and got the pleasure to talk with the patient and their faces lite up and so did mine. Plesse remember you don't have to be old to go but you could be an accident away.Health Question & Answer
