Poppers & Chest pains.?!

Question: Poppers & Chest pains..?
A few nights ago me & my friends where having a little drink & after one beer and a little bit of weed my friend put poppers under my nose & I sniffed it quite hard. I know that Poppers makes your heart beat really fast for a few seconds & can give a sudden split headache (God knows why people do it). Iam stupid for doing it, I know.

Well anyway..
I was sitting there & my pals were laughing about & I sat in silence. I felt weird, my body started going numb & I felt a weird sickness. I layed back and something was going up and down my throat really fast & I thought my heart was coming out of my mouth. My heart was pounding so fast I thought I was going to pass out. I couldn't keep it to myself so I stood up & kept forgetting where I was for seconds at a time. I had a bit of a panick attack & seriously thought I needed an ambulance, I kept making whiny noises & was really terrified.
My boyfriend got upto speak to me & sat me down, got me some water. The thing is I wasn't high or drunk at the time. After I sat down & returned to normal like nothing had happend.
I don't know what happened but I had chest pains the next day & the day after (Similar to chest pains when I had a Chest infection months previous to this)
It's never happend to me before and I have mixed them.
I've learnt my lesson, but what could that be that happened.?
It was highly embarassing..Health Question & Answer

Answers:
This sounds like a very bad panic attack made worse by the adrenaline that you had released from sniffing the popper. Chest pains are common after panic attacks. Poppers aren't good things to sniff as you know but once is unlikely to do you serious harm. It would be a good idea to visit the doctor if they haven't gone within a few days or if *any* of those symptoms return. Otherwise don't worry. Poppers are nasty things and as long as you don't sniff them again then you should be fine. Hope this helps.Health Question & Answer
