BUG PROBLEM WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

It looks like jagged glass under a microscope. Put a bead of it around the perimeter and entry points like windows, door, and vents. It works well on ants. We live in a heavily forested city, and ants are a constant problem here. Chemicals are ok, but the long term effects of such things are yet to be known. As far as the spiders, well...........
The best way to work that out is to use a broom to get at any cobweb you can find. Get the basement cleaned up, and mop the floors to get the dust out. A small oscillating fan will cause enough air movement to make your basement an unfriendly environment to spiders. You will have to keep up on it for a few months, but it will work.
I lived in a basement room and loved it, but had to do the same thing. I also sprayed outside the house around the windows with ant spray. i think it was raid, but it was a long time ago. It worked though. After I got rid of the ants, the spiders soon followed. (lack of food)
I was even able to keep a cookie jar in my room for munching on while doing homework. The ants never came back even with my cookie munching habit.

Use diatomaceous earth. It's completely natural, merely millions of microscopic shells of dead creatures that live in the ocean called diatoms. It's harmless to people, just wear something over your mouth when using it(it's a dust). It's very effective for killing ants and other crawling creatures. You can buy that at hardware stores and stuff. I use it for killing fleas on my dogs, but when I sprinkle it behind my couch, small piles of dead ants show up there. I kills them by sticking into them(we're too watery for it to work).

As for the spiders, use a vacuum and keep all the corners clean. Diatomaceous earth will kill them too, but since they're not on the floor a lot they won't be as exposed to it. It will kill within 48hrs of exposure.Health Question & Answer

is your basement cluttered.? i think you should like unclutter it and start killing all the bugs. during this time, sleep in the living room or something. after successfully killing all the bugs, make sure they dont come back by not eating in your room and putting those repellents thingy in every corner in your room.Health Question & Answer

I am like you -- I absolutely hate them. I've always had problems with them in the summer (especially spiders). This year I used Orkin pest control and saw about a 95% reduction than previous years.
