Did you look at the tick when you pulled it off.? Next time - try to put alcohol or vaseline on it and get it to "back out"(because it can't breathe or is irritated). It takes a few minutes longer- but you are more likely to get the head out. Just watch the place for the next week - if it is red, swollen or starts having "rings" of rash around it - take him to the Dr. otherwise it should start to diapear (it may itch-so put some Benadryl cream or something on it)Health Question & Answer
Keep an eye on the site of the bite to see if there's any signs of an infection. Most likely the head will just come out like it was a small splinter. If you see inflammation or other signs of infection, then a doctor visit would be appropriate.

Even if you got the whole tick out your child could still be at risk for lyme disease. The best thing to do is call your doctor and ask them what you should do next. Chances are everything is okay but why take a chance.Health Question & Answer
