Can thyroid hormone replacement medicine make your hair break?!

I was under the impression that being hypothyroid made your hair weak and that medicine would make it grow stronger and faster. Well I suffer from a very mild case of hypothyroidism. My hair was very thick and pretty even while having hypo symptoms. Now all of a sudden, a few months after taking levoxyl and natural thyroid extract, my hair is falling out! The doctor has yet to call me back, what do I do.? I am freaked out. I have continued to gain weight and my thyroid is HUGE. I am not sure if I am perhaps on too high a dose or too low a dose of medicine.Health Question & Answer
