I want to get into medicine & take care of others, but idk what specific kind of doc. Suggestions?!

Question: I want to get into medicine & take care of others, but idk what specific kind of doc. Suggestions.?
I'm very good @ math (especially) & science (human biology, bioethics, anatomy, physiology, etc.).
I'm a people person & I love kids too. Very sociable/talkative/lively. I'm not a push-over. When I do something I do it well. I'm the type of person when I'm learning something, I like to know it from the inside out & outside in & be able to expound on it to others. I'm very good with my hands. I have piano fingers (lol), & I make my own clothes sometimes. I also have beyond perfect vision & the desire to succeed. The human body intrests me greatly.

Bad things about me: I'm somewhat clumsy, I procrastinate a lot, I do EVERTHING I can to make someone feel better & I'm such a perfectionist that it isn't even funny.

Thanks for reading & please help me narrow it down.
I'm 17 & a senior in high school, but I would just like to enter college knowing.Health Question & Answer

You sound like a well-rounded, talented young lady. And as long as you know that you want to do Pre-Med in college - you do not have to decide which medical specialty you want to go into. You have 4 years of regular college courses with an eye toward Pre-Med prerequisite courses. Then you have to get accepted into Medical School. And for the first 2 years, you take a lot of generic courses and then do rotations through each of the services(departments) - like Pediatrics, Surgery, family medicine, Cardiology, etc.- you get to try them all out to see which you excel in and which you don't particularly like. Then, you apply to that service and see if they accept you into the Specialty and you go to school some more-learning about that specialty and doing an internship and residency and maybe a Fellowship. So, you have lots of time to decide on a Field - most med students change their minds (sometimes several times) before they settle on a Specialty. Work on Procrastinating-which you can not do as a doctor. And maybe being clumsy is not good as a surgeon - Best of Luck to you in your future-Health Question & Answer

You could become a paediatrician which is working with children, or psychiatry might suit you. If you're very good with your fingers you could consider being a surgeon, or you could operate on peoples brains (neurosurgeon).

All the best and good luck with your future.Health Question & Answer

i think that a person with your qualities and love of children would make a fine pediatrician.Health Question & Answer
