Blisters on tongue caused by chewing gum?!

Question: Blisters on tongue caused by chewing gum.?

I chewed four (4) pieces of big red bubble gum over the space of two days. On the second day I noticed my tongue felt sore. I looked when i got home and there were little white blisters on my tongue, (like when you eat really really hot (temperature wise) food and it burns your tongue and the roof of your mouth.) What can cause this.? I've never had it happen.

I called the company and they are sending an envelope so I can send the gum back for testing. But when I spoke to the rep, she first told me it sounded like the gum expired in 2007. Then said no, its due to expire in 09. She also said it could be an allergic reaction to the gum.. BUT if that were true wouldn't the blister-like bumps be all over my mouth since I didn't chew the gum in one specific spot for two days....?.?

I am planning on sending the gum back, but keeping a few pieces in a bag with a note of the marking that were on the gum and the barcode.

Any ideas what happened.? The bumps lasted for about 3 days. I did stop chewing the gum. Now I am sick, i.e. stuffy nose, cough, sore teeth, headache.. Not the flu, no body aches or anything like that.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I'm pretty sure youre allergic. And if you scratch it too much it might spread =/ what kind of gum was this.? why dont you get someone else to try it and if they get thesame thing, youre probably not allergic and its that weird gum.Health Question & Answer

It sounds sort of like you overreacted. I get white bumps on my to tongue when I chew too much gum. You probably picked up a disease from somewhere else, I doubt you got sick like that from gum. Maybe you are allergic.Health Question & Answer
