Question: Are pewter cups safe to drink out of.?

I have a pewter cup that I bought I drink coffee out of it and anything. But I was wondering if there was any problem with drinking out of a pewter mug. Is it safe or has unhealthy effects.

If it is pewter it is NOT safe because it contains lead that will leach out into whatever you are drinking. The two above answers are incorrect. While it is true that this metal has been used for centuries, no one at that time knew that lead was dangerous.Health Question & Answer

no its very safe, its a metal that has been commonly used to make beer mugs, its a very robust material that last a long time also with it being a metal it will keep your warmer than most mugs :-) enjoy Health Question & Answer
