-wear well-ventilated shoes instead of very constrictive shoes, such as boots
-always wear socks, preferably made of cotton or other absorbent materials that absorb a lot of the sweat so the bacteria can't feed on it

Everyones answer is good, but also it depends on the type of shoe you wear and how long... Like leather shoes don't ware those in the water... they will stink bad.. Always ware socks with your shoes no matter what (besides scandals) not even just to walk to your car and back.. your foot sweats so much your shoes stink!
