Why are ear infections more common in babies and kids?!


Question: Why are ear infections more common in babies and kids.?
I used to have horrible ear infections when i was little, but now i rarely do.

well to answer ur question, yes, you kinda grow out of it. As little babies, the eustachian tube which connects the inner ear to the pharynx or back of the throat, its very short in babies and since they always on their backs, formula and mucus easily backs up causing repeated ear infections and fluid in the ear. As u grow, the tube elongates, decreasing the amt of infections. But sometimes kids need surgery called myringotomy with tubes. Which basically mean that the dr puts in a drainage tube between your inner and outer ear (its really tiny), and then eventually they fall off and your fine.Health Question & Answer
