Can I donate blood if I have anemia?!

Question: Can I donate blood if I have anemia.?
I've always prided myself in donating blood as much as possible. Recently I was diagnosed with mild anemia which I am taking iron pills for. Is there hope again that my iron level can return back to normal and I can still donate.?

Please legitimate answers only if you really don't know then don't respond with something sarcastic.Health Question & Answer

Christina was right. Here in Aust. you're not allowed to donate blood if you are at all deficient in iron or taking iron supplements. It's good that you want to donate blood, but it wouldn't be wise or healthy at the moment. Take the iron supplements for a few months, get your levels re-tested, and if you're back to well within normal range then go ahead and donate blood.Health Question & Answer

as long as you are anemic then no you cannot give blood. once your blood is where it is supposed to be then you can. but right now you need all the blood you have.Health Question & Answer
