The fear is placed on being a slow, painfull or saddening death that may occur with a disease. Unknowing of death doesnt affect you as much on a daily basis or stay on the thoughts of friends or family. Compared to getting treatment and knowing that your time is shorter than expected and that you may pass it on or hurt others.
