Neck pain! 10 POINTS?!

Question: Neck pain! 10 POINTS.?
The right side of my neck has been hurting for a few days, it hurts when i move it to the right and the left aswell now. I think it's because of the way i sleep, it feels quite tight and painful.

What can i do to make it better.?
How should i sleep (flat on my back/ with the right side of my face down, or the left side of my face down touching the bed or/ on my tummy.?)Health Question & Answer

It appears that as a result of sleeping in an awkward position your neck is stiff, tight, painful and you have decreased range of motion. There are some things you can do to make it feel better.
1. Do some neck stretches- these simple exercises done under a hot shower will help to loosen up your muscles. Here are some neck exercises: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/page... Mainly, they involve slowly flexing your head forward, then backward, to each side and then turning. Only do the exercise to the point that you feel a stretch, not to the point of pain.
2. Use a t.e.n.s unit to help alleviate the pain in your neck. Electrotherapy works great on tight and stiff muslces. Do this 10-15 minutes tops.
3. Use a natural pain relieving gel like biofreeze on muscles of your neck. If you can have someone else do this for you, that would be a good idea and it will be more effective.
4. Change your sleeping position at night. Try to sleep on your back with 2 pillows or a wedge under your knees. This takes pressure off of the lower back area. You can also sleep on your side if you have the right neck pillow. Check out the cervical traction neck pillow because it will put your head and neck into the proper position for sleeping. There is a V in the center which helps to align your neck properly. You can sleep on your side or on your back.
5. Consider seeing a chiropractor to get your neck aligned properly.
Your neck pain may not be solely coming from the way that you sleep at night. They can assess, diagnose and determine where your pain is coming from.

Hope this helps you out. Health Question & Answer

You may have slept on your neck wrong. You should go to the doctor if it lasts for longer than a week. They'll take X-rays and tell you if you torn something,or maybe pulled even a muscle. also, you should sleep on maybe your back,or maybe on the side that your neck isn't hurting. Try also getting maybe a special pillow from the store. That will help it. also a heating pad at night on your neck, not too high but on medium heat. also, have someone massage your neck, gently not too much. Just in case you do have a torn muscle.

HOPE THIS HELPS!! GOOD LUCKKK :) Health Question & Answer
