you stop taking it a week before.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
i have had two surgeries and it's almost crucial that you do take them until the day of. This is to make absolutely sure that you do not have any infection in your body that can spread and cause massive illness after the surgeries.

however, antibiotics suck and are dangerous to your overall health. Not only do they kill the bad bacteria, but they kill the good bacteria too. After the surgery, take pro-biotics. They are sold in health food stores and help restore the natural "good" bacteria that flourish in your gut. You need an actual probiotic, not the weak stuff found in yogurt.
Health Question & Answer

YOU NEED TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR.

If you have any artificial joints... like hip or knee replacements... your doctor will start you on antibiotics 2 weeks before surgery to make sure that your joints won't be become infected (no matter what surgery you are having) and be rejected by the body.

For example, If you have dental surgery and have a new hip you need to be on antibiotics because there is a chance that any infection in your mouth could spread to your blood and then cause your body to attack your artificial joint.

DO NOT TAKE MEDS YOUR DOCTOR DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT BEFORE SURGERY!!!

Tell them everything RIGHT NOW and let THE DOCTOR tell you what is and is not ok.

You are messing with your life...
