Can i put in a new belly button piercing while the hole is still healing.?!

Question: Can i put in a new belly button piercing while the hole is still healing..?
i got my belly button piercing like 2 weeks ago, and the bar for the ring is too short and so the ball on the top is going into my skin, and i wanna change the ring so the bar is alittle bit longer. but i heard that it will instantly close or it'll get infected if i put in a new ring while the hole is still healing. but i don't know if it's true or not. help me please.?Health Question & Answer

If the bar is too short, it's probably from the bit of swelling that a new piercing gets--you're piercer probably misjudged. This, too, won't help it heal-up. So yes, you should get this changed-out for a different piece, but NO you should not do it yourself.

It won't instantly close if you take it out but give it a short amount of time and it'll be very difficult (not to mention painful) to get another piece of jewelry in there.

Take it to a piercer, even another piercer, and have them give you a bigger barbell (or bananabell as the curved ones are called more often).

The problem with doing it yourself is definitely infection but even with the cleanest hands and if you cleaned the area first, AND cleaned the new jewelry, it might still get an infection because of the type of metal you'd be putting in it. Some metals "approved" as body jewelry are really only safe for piercings that are healed, as opposed to other types of metal jewelry that are more hypo-allergenic in general.Health Question & Answer

Definitely do not put in a new ring yet. Sorry to say but you must suffer for a bit longer! I changed mine almost a month after I got it done and it got wicked infected, which is probably ten times as painful as the ball sticking into your skin. I'd say to be safe wait 6 weeks. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

if you enjoy infections and squeezing out puss..watching the hydrogen peroxide bubbles...then go for it..otherwise show a little patience..just think, last year you were more than 365 days away from your perfect belly-button ring, now you are just a few days..unless you infect it and horribly disfigure your mid-section forever!Health Question & Answer

It's not a good idea to change it yourself, but if you go back to the place where you got it done they should put a new one in for you, if it's possible.Health Question & Answer

you can change it but they tell yuo to leave it for a reason, it can become infected if you mess about with it, you will have to fully steralise the new barHealth Question & Answer

No I wouldn't do it yourself. Go back to the place where you got the piercing and get them to change it for you.Health Question & Answer

clean it very good. it will hurt to put the new one in but it won't close that fast. it takes just as long to heal as any other piercingsHealth Question & Answer

No wait at LEAST another 3 weeks. It will get infectedHealth Question & Answer
