Dealing with depression =( ?!

Question: Dealing with depression =( .?
I have to say I think I'm depressed. I don't know for sure but I've just been feeling really down and sad over the past week or so. I manage to hide it from my parents and friends but I just feel really upset. I'm not really sure why. It's just school and things. And I know this sounds stupid but I just feel really upset too about David Tennant leaving Doctor Who. I just will miss him loads. It's so weird I know. But it's not just that, it's all sorts of other reasons. How can I cheer up.? And what are anti-depressant's.? How do they help.? Though I think you have to talk to a Doctor about your problems before you can get some...I wouldn't like to do that.

Any ways for me to cheer up.? :] Thanks. (No nasty comments plz) ?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Depression is the worst hell hole I have ever been in, my whole life.
For me it started due to my eating disorder.
Or my eating disorder started due to my depression.
I have never worked out which way it happened.

Try to get out more.
That sounds really simple and weird, I know, but it really really helps!
I absolutely adore going for long walks with my music in nice places, it is so lovely, and excercise actually releases endorphines.
so ANY form of excercise helps.

Try not to do the same things over and over again, routines can make you feel really down and bored of your own life.
Be spontaneous,.

Try to break circular thought patterns. Make friends with "up" people. Eat a balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and drink lots of pure clean water. Take a St. John's Wort supplement - it's a natural anti-depressant. Stop placing so much importance on things you can't change and things that aren't truly important in your life. I lived with depression for three years so i'm kinda clued up. Honestly you know you are unhappy so simply do things that interest you more often relax more eat well and take regular exercise. If you stick to it it will help. If it doesn't please see your GP. Anti depressants often work but have side effects. Only consider these as a last resortHealth Question & Answer

It sounds like you are a little down but it does not sound like depression, just the blues from outside forces. Anti-depressants work if you have an imbalance of chemical hormones in the brain, but if you don't they won't help you and the side effects of some of them are horrible (sometimes worse than the depression) As far as David leaving the show, he will show up on another show one of these days, just watch and see. I never saw that show before but I know when they leave one show they always show up on another so watch for him. The best way of cheering up is to exercise, really!! That gets all of those brain chemical hormones stirred up and makes the feel good hormone (dopamine) working and it continues to keep working for 2 hours after you exercise. It doesn't have to be anything strenuous, just taking a walk or jog will help. Get your mind on something happy. Watch a comedy that makes you laugh till you cry kind of movie, dance around your room to some upbeat music (good exercise also) talk to a friend, tell jokes or go to the jokes& riddles section on Y/A and read some jokes. Just don't sit around feeling sorry for yourself. I have fought depression all my life and I know how down you can get. I have been suicidal at times and you don't need to feel like that. Go to the hospital and read to the kids on the children's floor. Some of their parents work all day and don't feel like reading to them at visiting time. Watch their faces light up. Do the same at nursing homes, maybe you can write letters for some of the patients who have arthritis and can't do it anymore. It would make them so happy. A lot of them have relatives who never come to visit, they would appreciate someone to talk to. Just get out of the house and do whatever, sitting home makes everyone sad sometimes.Health Question & Answer

Ups and downs are a normal part of life, sweetie. Sure there is "clinical depression" but from what you've said, it doesn't sound like that. Now this is just my opinion, but whenever people feel down- me included- you are kind of in a state of self-obsession and self-pity. If you can get into a state of gratitude your sad feelings will disappear. Try to do some volunteer work or do something for less fortunate. I know it's a big cliche "things could be worse" but it really works.

Or you could just try to make someones day. Treat someone else the way you'd like to be treated right now and you'll feel a whole lot better.

Take care!Health Question & Answer
