Why is there a constant beeping in my ears?!

Question: Why is there a constant beeping in my ears.?
I'm only 18 years old, but just starting today, I keep hearing a beeping in my ears and it's been going on for several hours. It's going to drive me crazy!! I haven't been hit in the head or received any trauma. also, if I concentrate really hard, I can make the noise go away for a short while, but then it comes back again. It's only in my left ear. I haven't been sleeping much recently, only about 2-3 nights a week, is that the reason why.? How soon can I get it to stop, if ever.?Health Question & Answer

Do you listen to load music or use ear phones or are around loud noises (like at work).? There are microfine little hairs in your ears that transmit sound waves - and loud, constant or close proximity waves cause the cilli(hairs) to lay down and not vibrate properly. This damage is almost always irreversible if subjected over a period of time. I'm afraid we may be seeing a whole generation of iPod, stereo-blasting teens with permanent hearing damage before they know it. Lack of sleep isn't good either - and that is more easily corrected! Think about your future health - before that beeping becomes a permanent sound. Health Question & Answer

You might have an ear problem. Go consult you ENT specialist.

You're experiencing tinnitus (ringing sound in the ear). This can be caused by trauma to the ear drum or by repeated ear infections.
